Around the middle part of 2013, a Facebook Group consisting of several triathletes was formed with the purpose of competing and training together. It also helped that many of the members of this group lived in the same area. We struggled in finding a group name, but in the end settled for FilOz Triathlon Team, derived from Filos, the urban term for a Filipino-Australian.

9th March 2014, marked the first race that the team raced together - the 2014 Tri-the-Gong. This was a momentous stepping stone for the team as many of us were competing in our first 'real' triathlon - being a standard Olympic distance race, having escaped the grasp of the enticers and sprints.

Throughout the rest of 2014, FilOz started spreading out and joined races interstate and abroad. Now FilOz gathered together and thought it best to form as an official team and align ourselves with Triathlon Australia. Meetings were made, then a plan was put forth to become a TA affiliated member club in the next membership year.

From June 2015, the FilOz Triathlon Club Inc became incorporated and became a Triathlon Australia affiliated club. This marks the end of the dream, and the beginning of exciting times for FilOz Team.
